Waitangi Hexagons
Once again the first thing We did this year was the Treaty Of Waitangi. I am a big fan of history, and the Treaty is something I find very interesting, although I'm afraid I can't say the same for some of my fellow classmates. However, this year, instead of doing all our work in our topic book we were told to pick a topic and do a hexagon about it. As well as history I also love both drawing and writing, so this was something that I enjoyed thoroughly.

The William Pike Challenge Award ( WPCA )
As some of you may have noticed, I often mention a William Pike Challenge. This post is going to explain to everyone what this is. Every year at Loburn school the year eights do the William Pike Challenge Award. This is where we have to complete a series of challenges with our fellow year eights over the course of the year, and we also have to complete a few Activities in our own time. The Activities we have to do are 20 hours of community service, 20 hours of a new hobby, one ten km fun run and walk up a mountain. This challenge is named after a man called William Pike. He lost his right leg at the top of mount Ruapehu after the mountain erupted on the 25 of September 2007. He was lucky to survive. After that traumatic experience William thought he would never climb again, but he persevered and was back up and moving about in no time. A few years later a book was published called Every Days A Good Day, telling everyone all about his incredible survival story, and William now runs the WPCA to help inspire young people and get them up off the couch.
